Loeb & Loeb gets TEF

Firms merging exex, rosters

In a move that bolsters its ranks and boosts its entertainment industry reach, legal powerhouse Loeb & Loeb has acquired Tenenbaum Emanuel & Fleer, one of Hollywood's leading boutique law firms.

TEF, of counsel to Loeb & Loeb for the past year, will join the latter's 200-attorney firm in its entertainment department.

The shift earns Irwin J. Tenenbaum, Craig A. Emanuel, Keith G. Fleer and Nigel Pearson partnership stripes in Loeb & Loeb. Attorney Leah K. Antonio-Ketcham joins Loeb & Loeb as senior associate.

"We were excited about the prospect of working with the TEF Group last year, but it quickly became apparent that they were a perfect complement to our practice and brought valued depth and expertise in the film and television arena," Loeb chairman John Frankenheimer told Daily Variety. "Virtually from the beginning, they have integrated fully into our entertainment department and the firm as a whole."

The addition of TEF's broad-based entertainment practice -- which sports a particular emphasis on the representation of writers, actors, directors, producers and film and TV production companies -- significantly strengthens Loeb & Loeb's already high-profile client roster.

"Our relationship was working so well that it only made sense to proceed immediately to the next step, which is a full integration of our practice," said Tenenbaum. "The combination of our talent practice with Loeb & Loeb's creates a very significant presence, which we believe is a real advantage to all of our clients."

TEF's current list of clients includes Woody Allen, Peter Weir, Anthony Hopkins, Andy Garcia, Gary Oldman, Steven Seagal, Robert Rodriguez, Sam Hamm and Henry Selick, as well as companies such as Intermedia Films and Dark Horse Comics.
