McGillivary upped to SPE facilities VP

Veep responsible for daily financial matters of post-prod'n

Sony Pictures Entertainment Digital Studios Division has upped Mike McGillivary to VP and controller, post-production and high-definition facilities.

Reporting to Frank Kohler, senior VP of finance, studio operations, McGillivary is responsible for the day-to-day financial matters of Sony Pictures Post Production Facilities, the Sony Pictures High Definition Center and the Advanced Digital Systems Group (ADSG).

In addition, he is responsible for operational and capital budgeting, forecasting and the financial aspects of long range strategic planning and investment analysis for all current and future business expansions, which include the studio's ongoing conversion to the digital platform.

"Mike has been a key member of the Digital Studios financial team from its very inception," said Kohler.

McGillivary joined Sony Pictures Entertainment in 1990 as studio controller when SPE took over operation of the Sony Pictures Studios. He later moved into the digital arena as the financial lead for the startup operation of Sony Cinema Products, the company that launched SDDS theatrical sound.

McGillivary has also been closely involved with the management team that developed the DADR500, a digital audio disk recorder designed by ADSG.

McGillivary began his career with MGM/UA in 1982 where he held positions in motion picture and television production finance and distribution. From 1986 to 1990, he served as director of finance for Lorimar.
