Sherman had served on Infinity Broadcasting's board before its 1996 acquisition by Westinghouse, which later changed its name to CBS Corp.
Infinity, which remains 83% owned by CBS after its partial spinoff last December, comprises more than 160 radio stations and outdoor ad business TDI.
