'Date' picked up in N.Y., L.A.

Strip clears more than half of U.S.

Polygram TV's syndie strip "Blind Date" has been picked up for a fall debut by Chris Craft/United TV's WWOR New York and KCOP Los Angeles.

All told, the half-hour strip has been cleared by stations covering 55% of U.S. TV households, including UPN affils WPWR Chicago, Chris Craft's KBHK San Francisco and KDAF Dallas.

Each seg of "Blind Date" will follow a couple fixed up by the show's producers on their first date, complete with tongue-in-cheek color commentary and "Pop-up Video"-style observations from an off-camera panel of "dating experts."
