Schruth, who had served as senior VP and general manager of affil relations since October 1995, will continue to report to CBS Television topper Leslie Monves.
"By preserving and improving our distribution base, Peter has helped position the CBS Television Network well for the business challenges ahead," Moonves said in announcing Schruth's promotion. "During his tenure, relations between CBS' affiliates and the network have solidified and prospered. He has set the tone for productive dialogue between the network and its affiliates and has helped to broker collaborative agreements on the affiliate NFL contribution, program exclusivity, promotion exchanges and a host of other issues."
Schruth's most recent ride with CBS began in 1993 when he was tapped as sales director for the Eye's Gotham flagship, WCBS. He first joined the web in 1973 as a sales assistant, leaving in 1977 to take a position with Storer Television Sales.
Schruth has also held exec positions at several stations across the country, including WSBK in Boston and WAGA in Atlanta.
