Prexy brings biz roots to post

Joanne Corday Kozberg is the new president and chief operating officer of the Los Angeles Music Center. She will begin the job in mid-February and report to Music Center chairman and CEO Andrea Van de Kamp.

Kozberg said she's looking forward "to working with other organizations to enhance arts education, develop new and diverse audiences for our resident companies, and energizing the existing Music Center Plaza to meet the extraordinary opportunities the Walt Disney Concert Hall brings us."

For the past five years, Kozberg has held the position of Secretary of State and Consumer Services, a cabinet-level agency in the California state government. From 1991 to 1993, she was executive director of the California Arts Council.

She served on the Music Center's board of governors from 1980 to 1991. In addition, from 1988 to 1991 she was president of the Blue Ribbon volunteer group.

Currently, Kozberg serves on the Board of Regents of the University of California and is a trustee at Pomona College. She is also a member of the Center Theater Group's board of directors.
