Dubrow is credited with developing the hit yakkers "Sally Jessy Raphael" and "The Jerry Springer Show" during his long tenure with Multimedia Entertainment.
Dubrow was courted by Eyemark in part because of his experience in shepherding a radio personality, Raphael, through the transition to a TV talkshow. Browne is a licensed psychologist who hosts a nationally syndicated call-in radio show originating from WOR-AM New York. Her Gotham-based TV talker is set to bow next fall.
"We're going to try to deal with solutions on our show, the kinds of things Joy does every day on her radio show," said Dubrow. "We're going to do a more intimate show than what's out there right now."
Eyemark reported that "Dr. Joy Browne" has to date been cleared by 50 stations covering 52% of U.S. TV households for a fall 1999 debut. Stations recently signing on for the hourlong strip include KTVU San Francisco, KPRC Houston, KARE Minneapolis and KOIN Portland, Ore.
