FTC to probe Ingram sale
Competitors say sale will lead to higher prices
Concern for consumers
Wyden raised questions about the deal, which would put the nation's largest book distributor in the hands of one of the nation's biggest book retailers. Barnes & Noble's competitors have also complained about the deal, insisting that it could lead to higher prices for consumers and discriminatory practices that would be harmful to other retailers.
Wyden said that the FTC promised to devote considerable resources to its review of the merger. Wyden serves on the Senate Commerce Committee, which has oversight responsibilities for the Federal Trade Commission.
