Wilson talks 'Streak'

Thesp could star opposite Lawrence in Col pic

Continuing to build his Hollywood resume, Luke Wilson -- currently starring opposite Drew Barrymore in "Home Fries" -- is in negotiations to co-star with Martin Lawrence in Columbia Pictures' "Blue Streak."

Les Mayfield ("Flubber") is set to direct the pic from Stephen Carpenter's script about an ex-con (Lawrence) who impersonates a cop in order to find the jewels he hid before he went to prison.

In the action-comedy, Wilson will play, coincidentally, Wilson, a green detective trainee partnered with Lawrence's phony flatfoot.

Daniel Melnick, Neal Moritz and Toby Jaffe are producing the project, which goes before the cameras Jan. 25.

After his breakthrough in Wes Anderson's 1996 "Bottle Rocket," (in which he co-starred with brothers Owen and Andrew), Wilson has racked up a list of credits that includes roles in such pics as Dean Parisot's directorial debut, "Home Fries"; Wes Anderson's upcoming "Rushmore"; and Bruce McCullough's indie comedy "Dog Park." His other credits include "My Dog Skip," "Kill the Man" and "Bongwater."

Wilson is represented by ICM's Nick Styne.
