BVI Int'l, RTL part of Super RTL's program

Pacts include pix, kidvid, docus

BERLIN -- German family channel Super RTL has signed five-year programming deals with Buena Vista Intl. and leading German commercial net RTL, Super RTL managing director Peter T. Heimes announced Wednesday in Cologne.

Super RTL has agreed to purchase series, TV movies and shows worth 200 million marks ($119 million) from RTL, according to Heimes. Included in the deal are domestic productions such as "Dirk Bach Show," as well as licensed series like "Murder, She Wrote." Super RTL will also cooperate with RTL in acquiring international product.

From BVI, Super RTL has bought 700 hours of animated and live-action Disney series such as "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" and "101 Dalmatians," as well as nature documentaries from BVI's archives.

Super RTL is a joint venture of Disney and Bertelsmann-affiliated CLT-Ufa, which also holds a majority stake in RTL. Super RTL had a market share of 2.6% in the first half of 1998.
