Benefit raises $1.4 mil
The American Foundation for AIDS Research raised a whopping $1.4 million at its "Seasons of Hope" fund-raiser at Gotham's World Financial Center's Winter Garden on Monday night.
Sharon Stone hosted, sporting newly shorn locks, and Tom Hanks, Barbara Walters and Arista Records founder and prexy Clive Davis were honored for their contributions to AIDS research. Whitney Houston, Sean "Puffy" Combs and Barry Manilow all gave performances.
Joining AmFar co-founder and chairwoman Dr. Mathilde Krim were 500 or so guests, including Christian Slater and "Side Man" scribe Warren Leight, Rosie O'Donnell, Kevin Kline and wife Phoebe Cates, Bob Iger and Graydon Carter.
