WB nabs D'Arienzo spec

Solomon, Lynn to produce 'The Jordeys'

By DAN COX

Warner Bros. has picked up Chris D'Arienzo's mock biopic spec script "The Jordeys," with "Men in Black" scribe Ed Solomon and his partner Edward Lynn set to produce.

Warner shelled out low six-figures for the project, which is about the rise to fame of two 1980s teen movie idols and their ultimate fall from grace.

Project is another indication that WB is shifting away from its image of simply looking for big-budget, high-profile pics. "The Jordeys" will likely carry an indie style along the lines of "This Is Spinal Tap."

Warner VP Basil Iwanyk brought the project into the studio and will oversee its development.

Solomon and Lynn, whose Infinite Monkeys banner has a first-look deal at Columbia Pictures, developed the pic inhouse with first-time scribe D'Arienzo, who had been Solomon's writing assistant.

Richard Green of UTA brokered the deal for D'Arienzo.
