CBS layoffs hit 'This Morning'

Others to receive notice by week's end

NEW YORK -- The layoffs at CBS News have begun.

Several staffers at CBS' "This Morning" were told by executive producer Al Berman Wednesday that they were among the 200-300 Eye web employees being cut from the network's payroll, a CBS insider said. Most other news division staffers will find out their fates by the end of the week (Daily Variety, Oct. 6).

CBS News topper Andrew Heyward will issue an internal memo detailing the reasoning behind the cutbacks and some of the details of his plan to restructure the operations of CBS News, sources said.

Layoffs are also looming at other parts of CBS and could include several mid- and high-level execs.
