AMC to b'cast Marvin doc

Boorman telepic airs Nov. 17

American Move Classics will premiere its original docu, "Lee Marvin: A Personal Portrait by John Boorman," on Nov. 17 at 10 p.m. (ET).

Directed and conceived by Boorman, the one-hour special will show the intimate side of the actor.

Marvin starred in "Cat Ballou" (1965), "The Wild One" (1954), "The Caine Mutiny" (1954), "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence" (1962), "The Dirty Dozen" (1967) and "Gorky Park" (1983). The actor died of a heart attack in 1987 at the age of 63.

Boorman met Marvin when he directed the actor in "Point Blank" in 1967. They become close friends shooting a second film, "Hell in the Pacific" in 1968.

"Lee Marvin: A Personal Portrait by John Boorman" is a co-production of the British Film Institute and AMC in association with the British Broadcasting Corp. and the Museum of Modern Art Dept. of Film and Video. It is produced by Paula Jalfon.
