NEW YORK -- VH1 scored its highest-rated regularly scheduled program for its Sunday broadcast of "Shania Twain: Behind the Music," which averaged a 1.82 cable universe rating, good for 1.2 million homes.

The 9-10 p.m. doc also generated a 1.46 cable rating in the 18-49 demo. In the third quarter, VH1 averaged a 0.5 primetime cable universe rating (294,000 households).

The program also served as the launching for the cabler's exclusive sales of homevideo versions of selected "Behind the Music" episodes. The homevids are only available from VH1 and will be sold retail in 1999.
