Jenkins strikes $1 mil pub deal
Scribe's 'HONEYmoon' hot property
After a fierce bidding war, H&S has picked up U.K. and Commonwealth publishing rights to "HONEYmoon," which Jenkins is currently writing, and to its successor. Film rights are still available.
"HONEYmoon" is the story of a woman on her honeymoon who bumps into an old flame, who is also with his new bride. Jenkins has so far written the synopsis and the first chapter.
Jenkins is best known as the creator of the BBC's cult TV series "This Life," which laid bare the amoral personal lives of a household of twentysomething London lawyers.
She has a two-film deal with Miramax-backed HAL. The first, "Elephant Juice," directed by Sam Miller and starring Emmanuelle Beart, is about three couples turning 30 in London, and the secrets they discover about one another.
Jenkins' book deal was negotiated by her literary agent, Sarah Lutyens, in association with her film agent, Tracy Smith at Casarotto & Co.
