Brits, U.S. top MTV Euro noms

Saints, Beasties nab four nominations each

LONDON -- British and American acts have once again taken the lion's share of MTV Europe Music Awards nominations, but with a few strong continental and international contenders in the running.

U.K. girl group All Saints is up for four noms, including best group, best album and best song for "Never Ever." The Beastie Boys also have four nominations, including best video for "Intergalactic."

Madonna scored three, including album for "Ray of Light." Garbage is also up for three, as is ex-Take That heartthrob Robbie Williams, including album and song.

But there are also three nominations for Natalie Imbruglia, the Aussie soap starlet-turned pop star, and for Sweden's Eagle Eye Cherry. Denmark's Aqua grabbed two noms, while Germany's Rammstein, France's Dario G, Australia's Savage Garden and Haiti's Pras are up for one each.

With the exception of Madonna, most of the more established acts make token showings. Nominated for one award are Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Janet Jackson and Aerosmith.

The fifth edition of the MTV Europe Music Awards will be held Nov. 12 in Milan. Jenny McCarthy is skedded to host and amongst those performing will be All Saints, Madonna and R.E.M.

BEST DANCE: Dario G, Faithless, Fatboy Slim, Madonna, Prodigy

BEST POP: Aqua, Backstreet Boys, Boyzone, Five, Spice Girls

BEST SONG: All Saints, "Never Ever "; Cornershop, "Brimful Of Asha"; Natalie Imbruglia, "Torn"; Savage Garden, "Truly Madly Deeply"; Robbie Williams, "Angels"

BEST GROUP: All Saints, Backstreet Boys, Beastie Boys, Garbage, Spice Girls

BEST ROCK: Aerosmith, Garbage, Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, The Smashing Pumpkins

BEST RAP: Beastie Boys, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliot, Pras, Puff Daddy
