Sheen inks for indie 'Lucky'

Thesp to play 'The Red' in Dead Man's movie

Actor Martin Sheen has inked to star in the indie drama "Lucky Town" for Dead Man's Hand Prods.

Sheen will appear as "The Red," a legendary poker player in the pic about two teenagers who get married too quickly and run away to Las Vegas only to become entangled in a web of killers and prostitutes.

Newcomers Charlotte Dodds, Kai Lennox, Phil Matuarano, "Cheers" alum John Ratzenberger and stand-up comic Bill Kirchenbauer also star.

Pic, skedded to begin shooting in October in Los Angeles, marks the directorial debut of Brendan Beseth from his own script.

Adam Goldworm and John Rogers produce. Future Venture Capital Inc., is financing pic budgeted at under $1 million.

No distributor has yet been set.
