Companies option Kenrick's 'Made for Each Other'
On "Made for Each Other," the producers have hired screenwriters Sarah Parriot and Joseann McGibbon, who wrote the Richard Gere-Julia Roberts starrer "Runaway Bride" as well as the Sandra Bullock vehicle "Exactly 3:30."
Master would smile
Barnaby Thompson, whose producing credits include "Tommy Boy" and "Wayne's World," and who with Fruchtman produced the Spice Girls' "Spice World" film and the recently completed "An Ideal Husband" with Minnie Driver and Julianne Moore, said: "I've been a longtime fan of Preston Sturges, and when I read this book, I thought it could make a great modern-day equivalent to the films I have loved by the master of character, heart and comedy. The book has some laugh-out-loud funny set pieces and a great romantic comedy premise."
The author was repped by Innovative Artists, and the screenwriters were repped by Daniel Ostroff.
100 and still timely
Vanguard's Williams called "The Inspector General," "one of the great comedy classics of the theater, as funny to read today as it was one hundred years ago, when it was first performed."
They've hired Mark Wardlow to adapt it. He wrote the short film "Dear Rosie," which Thompson is producing as a theatrical for 20th Century Fox, with Sigourney Weaver attached.
