Kinowelt buys distrib Rialto

No exec shuffle planned

BERLIN -- German indie distrib Kinowelt Medien has acquired Swiss distributor Rialto Film, Kinowelt announced on Wednesday in Munich. Zurich-based Rialto is the third-largest independent distributor in Switzerland, specializing in English-language arthouse pics. Rialto will retain its current management.

One of Germany's leading indie distribs, Kinowelt has been publicly listed since May. The Kinowelt group's revenues rose 58% to 87 million marks ($49 million) in the first half of 1998.
