GameWorks taps Fabel

Exec fills senior veep post

HOLLYWOOD -- Retail marketing vet Bruce Fabel has joined destination-based interactive entertainment company Sega GameWorks as senior vice president/general manager for operations, where he'll oversee all venues and project operations.

Fabel's responsibilities at GameWorks will include games and attractions, food, marketing and other elements that will affect the experience of guests visiting the high-tech interactive establishments.

Prior to joining GameWorks, Fabel spent several years as veepee of global development for Warner Bros.' highly successful line of Studio Stores, where he managed the opening of 111 of the WB-themed retail emporiums. He moved from WB to Nike Inc. to open three of the footwear company's Niketown stores. In 1996, he joined Calvin Klein as exec veepee of global retail operations.

Under the direction of Steven Spielberg and corporate owners Sega, DreamWorks and Universal Studios, the GameWorks sites were designed to provide large-scale, electronic and immersive gaming experiences for adults and families. To date, five multilevel GameWorks destinations have been opened.
