Lunden, Latifah talk it up for Telepictures
Former 'GMA' host, 'Living' alum make development deals
Lunden, the longtime co-host of ABC's "Good Morning America," cut a deal that's valued in the low seven-figure range, plus she gets a profit participation stake in the show. Reps for Lunden and Telepictures confirmed the signing Wednesday (Daily Variety, June 18).
There's no word yet on a concept or format for the Lunden show, other than it will be a syndie daytime strip. WB plans to unveil demo reels for both the Lunden and Latifah projects around the time of the syndie biz's annual NATPE sales confab in January.
Lunden, who left "GMA" last September, fronted a short-lived syndie talkshow, "Everyday With Joan Lunden," in 1989-90. More recently, she hosted and produced a number of primetime specs for ABC and the Lifetime cabler. Lunden is repped by CAA.
Queen Latifah, whose real name is Dana Owens, rose to fame as a hip-hop warbler with her 1989 debut platter "All Hail the Queen." Her deal with Telepictures was brokered by William Morris Agency's Mark Itkin, Steve Glick and Susan Brooks.
