Immortal drawn to death row pic
Indie prod'n company pays low against mid-six figures
Script, which has been drawing interest around town for several months, sold for low-six against mid-six figures. Story, set in Georgia, focuses on a prison guard who breaks a lifelong cycle of racism and familial abuse through a relationship with the widow of a death row convict he helped execute.
The "Monsters Ball" title is derived from an English expression for a condemned prisoner's last night alive.
Pic is being produced by Immortal's Eric Cahan and Happy Walters. Mike Leiber will have co-producer credit.
In March, Addica and Rokos -- who are both former actors -- placed their action pitch "Man Made" at Warner Bros. in a deal that included an option for a second picture.
Immortal Films is the feature production division of music label Immortal Entertainment, which Walters founded. The company started as a music management firm and now also produces movie soundtracks.
Addica and Rokos are repped by their agent Lucy Stille at Paradigm and by attorney Jodi Peikoff. They're managed by Atlas.
