4-hour telecast to celebrate 50 years of TV
Show, which will be held for the first time at the Shrine Auditorium, is skedded to unfold from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and air 7 p.m.-11 p.m. (tape-delayed to the West Coast).

Mischer said Wednesday the show won't up the number of awards handed out on TV, which has stood at 27 the past few years. He said the extra hour will "give us time to really take a look at 50 years of television.
"With a typical Emmy show, we get about 25 minutes to create entertaining pieces that relate to the TV season and to the industry. With four hours, we'll be able to look at TV's high points and the role the medium has played since it emerged a half-century ago. We're hoping to create some emotional moments, and fortunately we will have the time to do that."
NBC commitment
Mischer added that he is "impressed with the commitment NBC has made to this anniversary. They deserve a lot of credit for paying this type of respect."
No host has been named for the 50th Emmycast.
