3 upped at Writers & Artists Agency

They're partners now

In the most substantial management modification in its 28-year history, Writers & Artists Agency announced Wednesday the promotions of Norman Aladjem, Marti Blumenthal and William Craver to partners at the bi-coastal talent and literary percentery.

"I am very excited at the thought of having partners, which I have never had before," said company founder Joan Scott, who announced the management changes. "Marti, Bill and Norman bring to the company an infusion of talent, energy, enthusiasm and strategic planning abilities that will take the agency into new directions." Aladjem, who began his career as an attorney at Armstrong & Hirsch and later opened his own management banner, joined Writers & Artists in June 1995. He was upped to head of talent in November 1996.

Blumenthal began her career as a literary agent at the Agency before joining Writers & Artists in 1990. Three years later, she was named co-head of the agency's literary department, which is now run by Jim Stein.

Craver heads the percentery's New York office. His roots in the theatrical world go back to the days he worked for producer Saint Subber, later becoming a company manager and general manager of numerous Broadway and Off Broadway shows.

Writers & Artists has a combined staff of 57 agents in its Los Angeles and New York offices -- 12 in Gotham and 45 in Hollywood. Among the talent the agency handles are William H. Macy, Shawn Wayans, Matthew Lillard, Tisha Campbell and Hope Davis. Writers include Robert Schenkkan and the team of Weisberg & Cook. The percenter also repped the legit production "Rent" and its late creator, Jonathan Larson, in addition to Tony Award-winners Jerry Zaks and Walter Bobie.
