Todd-AO picks Pollack

He joins their board of directors

Todd-AO Corp. announced Thursday that veteran director Sydney Pollack has been elected to the company's board of directors.

"I am pleased to join Todd-AO's board because of the company's superior standards and excellent work," Pollack said. "Todd-AO's vision to become the premiere post-production company worldwide, utilizing a digital architecture, uniquely recognizes the growing and shifting needs of the industry," he said.

The director of "Tootsie" and "Out of Africa," for which he won an Oscar, Pollack has produced numerous films through his company, Mirage Prods., which he formed in 1985. His credits include "Presumed Innocent," "The Fabulous Baker Boys," "Dead Again" and "Sense and Sensibility."

Pollack has also made acting appearances in Woody Allen's "Husbands and Wives," Robert Altman's "The Player" and Robert Zemeckis' "Death Becomes Her."

The Middle-East International Film Festival kicks off this fall.
