Ken Page dies at 69
Held varied positions in the industry
During his long career, Page held a number of key positions in the TV distribution business, including president of worldwide television distribution and executive VP of Lorimar Prods. Prior to that, he served as exec VP of Columbia Pictures Television, where he was responsible for Columbia's Stateside and international TV distribution activities.
Born in England, Page moved in the early 1950s to Toronto, where he sold radio and TV programming. In 1962, he formed his own company, Page One Ltd., a program distribution company that primarily represented CBS Television product.
When CBS eventually took over the company, Page was retained as VP and general manager. In 1967, Page relocated to Switzerland where he served as director-general for CBS Television and CBS News.
In 1971, Page became director of Columbia Pictures Corp. in London. A few years later he joined Screen Gems Intl. in New York, where he was responsible for the licensing of feature films and programming to TV in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Caribbean.
Following more than a decade with Columbia Pictures Television, Lorimar and TVS Entertainment, Page served as a consultant for Canal Plus France (1990-95).
Page is survived by his wife, Anne, a daughter, a son and a brother.
A memorial service will be held May 17 in Toronto. Services for Los Angeles and London will be held later in the year.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
