Teen actor Seth Green has landed a role opposite Devon Sawa in the forthcoming slasher comedy "Idle Hands."
"Idle" is about a high-school kid (Sawa) who discovers that his hands are possessed by the devil. Green plays a teenager who comes to the aid of his errant chum. Pic begins shooting in April for a 1999 release.
Rodman Flender is directing. Team Todd's Suzanne and Jennifer Todd are producing along with Licht/Mueller Film Corp.'s Andrew Licht and Jeff Mueller.
"Idle" is being backed by Columbia Pictures, which hopes it will emulate the success of its 1997 genre release "I Know What You Did Last Summer."
However, "Idle" will be released under the TriStar moniker, the now-defunct studio where it originated.
"Idle" marks the second Columbia pic in a row for Green, who stars opposite Jennifer Love Hewitt in the forthcoming comedy "Can't Hardly Wait."
His other credits include this summer's Buena Vista event movie "Armageddon," "Austin Powers," "Radio Days" and "Airborne."
Flender previously directed genre titles such as "Leprechaun 2" and episodes of TV series including "Dawson's Creek" and "Millennium."
Green is repped by Don Buchwald & Associates' Tim Angle and Julia Buchwald and his manager, Trice Koopman of Koopman Management.
