United Artists has purchased a baseball-themed comedy pitch from producers John Fogel and George Zaloom in a deal worth a low- against mid-six-figure sum.
Pic, titled "The 7th Game," is about a group of misfit minor leaguers who must step in for the last two games of the World Series after league champion team the Chicago Cubs go down in a plane crash. Premise is based on an actual Major League Baseball regulation.
Newcomer scribes Allan Loeb and Steven Pearl will script. UA's Jeff Kleeman brought the project into the studio.
CAA reps the producers, and Gary Pearl of the William Morris Agency fronts the writers. Attorneys Jeremy Barber, John Deimer and Ken Richman repped the producers and writers.
