Busey enlisted as WB 'Soldier'

Thesp joins Russell in sci-fi thriller

Gary Busey ("Lost Highway") has joined the cast of Warner Bros. "Soldier," playing opposite Kurt Russell in the futuristic sci-fi thriller.

Jerry Weintraub is producing. Paul Anderson is directing from a script by David Webb Peoples.

Also starring are Jason Scott Lee, Connie Nielsen and Michael Chiklis. Russell plays a soldier and veteran of numerous galactic conflicts who finds himself rendered obsolete by a new generation of specially bred, genetically engineered warriors. Busey will play Captain Church, the superior officer over Russell's character.

Busey's film credits include "The Buddy Holly Story," "Under Siege," "The Firm" and "Chasers," and he will appear in the forthcoming Universal's "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," directed by Terry Gilliam.

He is repped by Steve Chasman at International Creative Management and manager Herb Nanas.
