SYDNEY -- Kerry Stokes' Seven Network Australia on Wednesday unveiled a joint venture between its subsid Seven Online and U.S. computer chip producer Intel to broadcast TV and Web sites to consumers' personal computers.
Seven expects the venture, trading as Intercast, to offer free-to-air advertiser-funded services this year via an Intel TV tuner card, which Seven will exclusively sell for about A$150.
"Seven Online complements our broadcast TV business and will significantly broaden opportunities for the distribution of our programming and information software," said Seven topper Gary Rice.
The deal comes just weeks after the launch of Ninemsn, a A$50 million Internet content service operated as a joint venture between Microsoft and Kerry Packer's Nine Network and ACP Publishing.
