The House of Moves Motion Capture Studios, which produced much of the performance motion capture imagery used to animate the lifelike CG characters in "Titanic," has pacted to perform much of the 3-D motion capture processes for the all-CG animated feature "Sinbad: Beyond the Veil of Mists."
Brendan Fraser, Leonard Nimoy and Mark Hamill will star in the film.
"Sinbad" is being produced by Sriram Rajan of Pentafour, a software company that has developed its own motion capture computer technology. The House of Moves will capture the performances of the entire cast.
Motion capture uses the facial and body movements of real actors and applies them to computer-animated characters, explained Tom Tolles, president and co-founder of the House of Moves. Director Gordon Hunt will direct the real actors in "Sinbad."
Improvision Corp. is financing the pic based on a script by Jeff Wolverton. The film focuses on a battle between Sinbad the Sailor of "Arabian Nights" fame and evil villain Baraka.
Pentafour currently is providing computer animation for Morgan Creek's traditional 2-D animated feature "The King and I."
House of Moves produces motion capture imagery for feature and TV films, commercials, music videos and videogames.
