Murphy's on Mondays again

Back to its old slot leading up to series finale

CBS is bringing "Murphy Brown" back to its old Monday stomping grounds next month for the six weeks leading up to the one-hour series finale May 18.

"Murphy Brown," which has been airing Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. this season, will replace "George & Leo" in the Monday 9:30 p.m. slot beginning April 6. By then, "George & Leo" will have finished its original episode order; it's still uncertain if the Paramount-produced Bob Newhart/Judd Hirsch buddy comedy will be back for a second season on CBS in the fall.

Guest stars set for the final seg of "Murphy Brown," which occupied the Monday 9 p.m. berth for most of its 10-year run on CBS, include George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Bette Midler and Alan King.

In other network news Wednesday, ABC confirmed that the "Wonderful World of Disney" movie showcase, airing 7-9 p.m. Sundays, will be returning in the fall.
