Vescera eyeing NBC post

Exec in talks for advertising/promotions post

Jim Vescera, who recently ankled his post as ABC's senior VP of advertising and promotion, is in talks for a new job with his longtime former employer, NBC, sources said Wednesday.

Vescera first joined NBC in 1986 and rose to VP of on-air promotion there in 1991. He left for ABC in 1996 to work with Alan Cohen, an exec VP of marketing, who also came from the Peacock web.

ABC's on-air promotion department, however, has been widely criticized this season, and Vescera recently exited the Alphabet web. ABC is still without a chief of on-air promotions, a fact that is frustrating some studio execs who feel they must take the responsibility for cutting decent series promos into their own hands.

It's unclear exactly what position Vescera is angling for at NBC, but if he can come to terms, he would likely work for John Miller, executive VP of advertising and promotion, and Vince Manze, senior VP of advertising and promotion.

NBC is considered to be near or at the top in on-air network promotions, but Vescera is not expected to lead the on-air promo department, as he did at ABC. NBC had no comment on the talks.
