Four thesps cast in U's 'Bride of Chucky'

Tilly, Dourif join evil toy tale

The wedding party is coming together for Universal's "The Bride of Chucky," with Jennifer Tilly, Brad Dourif, Jennifer Heigl and Nick Stabile set to co-star in the newest entry in the fright franchise.

Ronny Yu directs from a screenplay by Don Mancini. David Kirschner and Laura Moskowitz will produce the film, slated to begin production April 1 in Toronto.

According to sources involved with the project, John Ritter is in talks to join the cast as well.

In this fourth installment of the "Child's Play" series, the doll Chucky (voiced by Dourif), who is possessed by the soul of an executed killer, hooks up with Tiffany (Tilly), a doll possessed by the spirit of a "bad" girl.

The murderous duo hitch a ride to Los Angeles with a teenage couple (played by Heigl and Stabile), with the dolls planning to exchange bodies with their road trip hosts.

Tilly most recently co-starred with Jim Carrey in Universal/Imagine's "Liar Liar." The actress was Oscar-nominated for her role in "Bullets Over Broadway." Dourif, also Oscar-nominated (for "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest") has starred in each of the "Child's Play" films.

Heigl's credits include "Under Siege 2: Dark Territory," "My Father, My Hero" and "King of the Hill." She is repped by Writers & Artists Agency.

Stabile will be making his bigscreen debut. He most recently co-starred on NBC's "Sunset Beach," which followed smaller roles in such TV series as "John Grisham's The Client," "Boston Common" and "Step By Step." He is repped by the J. Michael Bloom Agency.
