Ferguson sets up 'Je M'Appelle Crawford'
The $4 million pic will be made through Milky Bar Kid Prods., which is run by Ferguson, Allen and co-scripter Sacha Gervasi.
Several studios are bidding to take the project domestically as a negative pick-up, including Warner Bros., Miramax, 20th Century Fox and Polygram. Sources said Warner is likeliest to nab the rights.
William Morris Agency is repping the pic for distribution for both domestic and foreign.
Pic, which will shoot during the "Carey" hiatus in June, is a comedy about a small town Scottish hairdresser (Ferguson) who travels to L.A. to compete in the world hairdressing championships.
Gervasi will exec produce the project, which marks his first produced screenplay.
Ferguson's feature credits include the recently completed "Revenant" for Storm Entertainment.
Allen's helming credits include last year's "Twin Town" for Polygram.
Ferguson was repped in the deal by John Kelly of Bresler-Kelly & Associates and managed by Rick Siegel.
Gervasi and Allen are repped by William Morris agents Bobbi Thompson and Gregory McKnight.
Allen is also managed by Simon Millar at Propaganda.
