Ill Velasco takes leave

Loss signals the end of 'Siempre'

MEXICO CITY -- Veteran TV host Raul Velasco is taking a leave of absence from Televisa due to illness, marking the end of his Sunday variety show "Siempre en Domingo" after 28 years.

"Siempre," which beams to many countries across the Americas, has long been a launch-pad for singing talent in Mexico, Central and South America and the U.S. Hispanic market.

Velasco's last show will broadcast on April 19 and feature call-ins from viewers.
