NBC gets a head start

CNBC to air 'The Olympic Show' 29 months before games

Getting a 29-month jump on hyping NBC's coverage of the 2000 Summer Olympics from Sydney, Australia, cablenet CNBC will on Saturday premiere a half-hour (4-4:30 p.m. PT) weekly update on everything Olympic called "The Olympic Show."

NBC has the rights to the next five Olympic competitions: the Summer Games in Sydney, the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City, the 2004 Summer contest in Athens and both the 2006 Winter Olympics and 2008 Summer Games, the latter two of which remain site-less.
