CBS' Eye on People to focus on Oscar

Nominees and past winners take spotlight

NEW YORK -- CBS cabler Eye on People will shine a spotlight on a variety of former Academy Award winners and nominees during "Hollywood Heavyweights Week," beginning March 16.

During the week, the information/entertainment hybrid network (which is still struggling on the distribution front and available in only an estimated 5 million to 8 million homes) will feature new, recent and vintage interviews with big names including Woody Allen, Steven Spielberg and Robin Williams.

Eye on People's first "theme week" will draw heavily on CBS archival footage, including "a terrific vintage Edward R. Murrow interview with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall," Eye prexy Geoffrey Darby told Daily Variety.

Eye programs "60 Minutes More," "Final Cut," "Signature" and "Against the Law" will be included in the special series, which concludes March 22.
