No more telethon

Easter Seals is going Hollywood.

The nonprofit org for the disabled is forgoing its traditional telethon this year in favor of a two-hour syndie spec, "Hollywood Salutes Easter Seals."

The spec, produced by Weller/Grossman Prods. and distributed by Kelly News & Entertainment, aims to raise the public profile of the service org by focusing on movie and TV portrayals of people with disabilities. The spec has been cleared for broadcast between March 28 and April 12 on TV stations covering about 70% of the country, including WCBS New York and KCOP Los Angeles.

Among the celebs set to appear are Bill Cosby, Melanie Griffith, Dana Delany, Pat Boone, Roma Downey and Della Reese.
