D'Works picks up Drosnes' 'Ice Age'

Big budget, futuristic action-adventure

EXCLUSIVE
DreamWorks Pictures has picked up "Ice Age," a pitch by short filmmaker/screenwriter James Drosnes to be produced by "Last Action Hero" writer Zak Penn.

"Ice" is described as "a futuristic action adventure with a radical twist." The film, currently being written by Drosnes, is envisioned as a big-budget, post-apocalyptic film. No director is yet attached.

The project is being developed under Penn's first-look production and writing deal with DreamWorks, and overseen on behalf of the studio by Jason Hoffs.

Penn is a writer on DreamWorks/Universal's forthcoming animated title "Small Soldiers," directed by Joe Dante, and on the thriller "Suspect Zero," which is being produced by C/W Prods. and backed by U.

Drosnes' short film "A Taste of Earth" was at Sundance in 1996. He is repped by Innovative Artists' Jim Garavente.
