CBS swapping 'Hayes,' 'Eye'

'Murphy Brown,' 'Early Edition' on bench

CBS is temporarily benching "Murphy Brown" and "Early Edition" and swapping timeslots for "Michael Hayes" and the newsmag "Public Eye With Bryant Gumbel."

"Murphy Brown" will also take a break in March, and "Cybill" will return to the schedule in "Murphy's" Wednesday 8:30 p.m. slot March 4.

"Michael Hayes" will move to the 9 p.m. Wednesday slot, leading out of "Cybill" and into "Chicago Hope," starting March 4. Gumbel's slow-starting newsmag will shift March 3 to Tuesdays at 9 p.m.

The CBS Saturday drama "Early Edition" will return after the NCAA Basketball Championship. Starting Feb. 28, "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" returns to Saturday at 8 p.m., followed by "Magnificent Seven" and "Walker, Texas Ranger."
