They're to co-star with Williams

By DAN COX

Philip Seymour Hoffman, last spotted in "Boogie Nights," and feature newcomer Daniel London have inked to co-star with Robin Williams in Universal's "Patch Adams" under Tom Shadyac's helm.

The pair will both play medical school chums of Williams in the true story of a middle-aged man, Hunter (Patch) Adams, who decides to change his life and become a doctor.

Monica Potter also co-stars as the female lead.

Pic, scripted by Steve Oedekerk, is set to lense in Northern California and North Carolina in February.

Shadyac and Charles Newirth are exec producing. Barry Kemp, Mike Farrell, Marvin Minoff and Marsha Williams are producing.

Hoffman recently appeared in the Sundance Film Festival entry "Next Stop Wonderland" and will be seen in the upcoming Coen brothers pic "The Big Lebowski."

London, a stage actor out of Gotham with no feature credits, was picked from a national search for his role by casting director Debra Zane, who was looking for a "young nebbishy Woody Allen type," sources said. He is currently starring in New York in the cult London legit transplant "Shopping and Fucking."

Paradigm's Michael Lazo, Sarah Fargo and Roseanne Quezada rep both Hoffman and London. Hoffman is also managed by Davien Littlefield.
