E! doubles up on Orbit deal for 3 years

'Hollywood' mainly supplied by E!

E! Entertainment inked a three-year output deal with Middle Eastern satcaster Orbit at last week's NATPE convention in New Orleans, expanding an existing long-term agreement.

E! will now more than double the volume of its previous deal with Orbit, providing virtually all of its programming output - from "E! News" to "Celebrity Profile" - for airing on Orbit's Hollywood Channel. No dollar figure was available for the deal.

The renewal established E! as the primary programming supplier to the Hollywood Channel, says Jon Helmrich, E!'s VP of international development.

"Orbit is a pioneer in its region, providing a wide range of top-quality, international entertainment to an audience that previously had limited programming choices," Helmrich said.

Orbit is a digital direct-to-home satcaster that beams more than 40 TV and radio channels to 23 territories in the Mideast and North Africa.
