Kamins on top of world for ICM

Exec upped to sr. veep of international ops

In an expansion of the agency's worldwide functions, Ken Kamins has been upped to senior vice president and head of international operations for International Creative Management.

Kamins will remain based in Los Angeles, where he will manage ICM's international department while expanding the percentery's role in the independent financing of motion picture and TV projects on behalf of ICM clients.

In his new post, Kamins will work in conjunction with ICM's U.K. chairman Duncan Heath and newly hired London agent Lyndsey Posner to increase co-production activity in Europe. ICM has not had a Los Angeles-based head of its international division since Peter Rawley left nearly two years ago.

The promotion of Kamins comes after a flurry of activity in ICM's London office following the departure of ICM Ltd. co-chairman Michael Foster. In recent weeks, the agency has fortified its London ranks by hiring four agents: Alan Radcliffe and Michael McCoy from the William Morris Agency; Greg Hunt from Casarotto & Co.; and film exec Posner (Daily Variety, Jan. 8, 1998).

Kamins, who joined ICM more than five years ago after the InterTalent Agency dissolved, has co-managed with Amy Ferris the agency's motion picture literary department for nearly two years. Since joining ICM, Kamins has built a strong stable of director-writer clients, which he will continue to rep -- including Robert Altman, Sidney Lumet, John Boorman, John Franken-heimer and Norman Jewison.

"Ken Kamins has proven expertise on both sides of production," said Jim Wiatt, president of ICM. "We are delighted that he will take on the challenge of managing ICM's international operations."

Kamins became a film agent at InterTalent in 1992 after eight years at RCA/Columbia Pictures Home Video, where he last served as VP, worldwide acquisitions. Prior to his RCA/Columbia tenure, Kamins worked at MGM/UA Home Entertainment Group in non-theatrical sales. He joined the Hollywood work force in 1983, after graduating from Northwestern U.
