Par stations order more Philips gear

Order brings to 11 the number of stations in chain using Dutch company's equipment

By
The giant Dutch electronics firm Philips has received an order for state-of-the-art digital broadcast gear worth $5 million from the Paramount Stations Group.

The order, confirmed Thursday, reinforces the Par stations' belief in Philips' Broadcast Television Systems Co., upping to 11 the number of stations in its chain that run on PBTSC gear, specifically its tapeless Philips Media Pool servers.

Philips digital servers store broadcast material on magnetic disks, keeping it in the digital domain to be carted, spooled for satellite dispersal or archived. With appropriate switching and control gear linked in, the servers can also be used for offline editing.
