Broadcast crix toast Wise with lifetime prize

Vet filmmaker to receive award Monday at luncheon

Veteran filmmaker Robert Wise will receive the Broadcast Film Critics Assn.'s lifetime achievement nod on Monday during the group's third annual Critics' Choice Awards luncheon.

Wise, who won Academy Awards for his co-direction of "West Side Story" and for producing and directing "The Sound of Music," also directed "The Sand Pebbles," "Run Silent, Run Deep," "The Haunting," "Audrey Rose" and "Star Trek: The Motion Picture," among others.

"Robert Wise has produced and directed some of the most memorable motion pictures of all time," BFCA exec director Joey Berlin said. "He has served his art and his industry nobly throughout his career and we salute him proudly."

Kevin Pollak will emcee the event at the Hotel Sofitel in L.A.
