Eadie Del Rubio

Singer Eadie Del Rubio, one of the popular Del Rubio Triplets, died Dec. 16 at Torrance Memorial Medical Center after a short battle with cancer. She was believed to be in her early 70s.

The Del Rubio Triplets sang professionally since the 1950s and enjoyed success with several albums, TV shows and, more recently, performing at hospitals and nursing homes.

Eadie, along with her sisters, Milly and Elena, began singing together as children when their father bought them matching Martin guitars.

After high school, they went to Hollywood to pursue professional singing careers and played the lounge circuit for several years.

In the 1960s, the group embarked on a self-financed world tour, which lasted three years. The Triplets recorded several albums, including "Jingle Belles," "3 Gals, 3 Guitars" and "Whip It."

Additionally, they appeared on numerous TV shows, including "Ellen," "The Golden Girls," "Full House," "Married ... With Children" and "Pee-wee's Playhouse."

In the late 1980s, Eadie Del Rubio and her sisters began performing in the underground art scene, and were featured in several films, commercials and magazines.

Eadie Del Rubio is survived by her two sisters, Milly and Elena.

Funeral services were held Friday at Mary Star of the Sea in San Pedro.
