Amanda Marashinsky has been upped to senior VP of worldwide publicity for MGM Distribution Co., responsible for all national and regional publicity for theatrical releases from both MGM and UA. She steps into the spot formerly held by Susan Pile, who exited her post Wednesday after her contract expired.
Pile will go back to independent consulting.
Marashinsky, who reports to president of worldwide marketing Gerry Rich, will also oversee (in conjunction with UIP) all international publicity activities for the studio's films overseas.
Marashinsky, who has been with the studio since 1994, worked on the campaigns for "Get Shorty," "Goldeneye" and "The Birdcage." She started her career at Miramax Films in 1988.
