Suit vs. 'X' dismissed by judge

A U.S. District Court judge late Tuesday dismissed a suit filed against Warner Bros. by an expert on Islamic doctrine and history who claimed he made substantial changes to the script of "Malcolm X." The studio distributed the Spike Lee-directed pic.

Jefri Aalmuhammed, who also named Lee in the complaint, claimed he directed some of the film's scenes without being properly credited or paid for his contributions (Daily Variety, Nov 28, 1995). Lee was dismissed as a defendant in the suit in November.

In granting the motion for summary judgment argued on behalf of the studio by attorney Karen Brodkin of Wyman, Isaacs, Judge Jay Spencer Letts said he did not find Aalmuhammed's claims credible or his contributions to the film significant.

Aalmuhammed claimed in his suit he was responsible for more than 200 script revisions.
